City secures financial aid for solar energy installations on public structures

Dormagen, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, is set to install photovoltaic systems at four of its municipal buildings, thanks to funding from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy.

The four buildings slated for the solar panel installation are the sports center on Wilhelm-Busch-Straße in Zons, the city library, the Friedensschule in Gohr, and the Tannenbusch School at Kronenpützchen.

The funding, which covers 95 percent of the total costs for the systems, amounts to approximately 330,000 euros. The mayor of Dormagen, Erik Lierenfeld, announced the news, stating that the city benefits ecologically and economically from the new solar panels.

The installation costs for each building are as follows: the sports center on Wilhelm-Busch-Straße will cost 138,000 euros, the city library 106,700 euros, the Friedensschule in Gohr 46,700 euros, and the Tannenbusch School at Kronenpützchen 38,600 euros. The city's contribution to these costs is 5 percent.

Mayor Lierenfeld emphasised that the city aims to reduce CO2 emissions and lower long-term energy costs by producing solar power in-house. He also highlighted that the city will use energy more efficiently with the new systems and plans to save budget funds by using the new photovoltaic systems.

The installation of the planned photovoltaic systems will take place in the coming months. With these installations, the city will modernise these four municipal buildings and make an important contribution to climate protection.

In conclusion, the solar panel installations at the sports center, city library, Friedensschule, and Tannenbusch School are a significant step towards Dormagen's goal of reducing CO2 emissions and lowering energy costs, while also modernising its municipal buildings and contributing to climate protection.
