City's Freelancers Push Forward Key Development Initiatives in Dormagen
The Dormagen Municipal Enterprise (ED) is making significant strides in shaping the city's future, focusing on a range of structural topics and sustainable projects.
The ED is currently working on the development of digital processes, systematic property documentation, and an improved ticket system for internal requests. This digital transformation aims to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
Moreover, the ED is dedicated to the continuous development and legally secure documentation of operational responsibility. This commitment is a testament to the enterprise's focus on accountability and transparency.
In the realm of education, the ED has two significant projects this year: the Lernort Horrem and the new construction of the Realschule Hackenbroich. The latter will utilise green steel, marking an important step towards sustainable construction.
The ED is also responsible for school construction, heritage preservation, and modern infrastructure. A prime example of this is the renovation of the historic Alte Schule in Delhoven, which has been completed and will reopen as a community centre on December 11th.
The construction costs for the Alte Schule renovation remained well below the allocated funds at around 1.2 million euros. Similarly, the construction costs for the new fire station were adhered to at 6.3 million euros.
The new fire station, spanning 1,159 square meters, includes a vehicle hall, workshops, and administrative areas. For the first time, the children's fire department will have its own rooms in the new station.
The ED is also working on the comprehensive expansion and renovation of the Offene Ganztagsschule (OGS) Stürzelberg, which now includes the new construction of a gymnasium and the design of outdoor facilities. The new fire station in Stürzelberg has been completed, built according to the DGNB gold standard.
In terms of personnel strategy, the ED is addressing future challenges, including the shortage of skilled workers, digitalization, and changing task areas. Key elements of this strategy include regular demand analyses, continuous training, flexible working models, systematic succession planning, innovative recruitment, and the promotion of leadership skills and interdisciplinary cooperation.
Dr. Martin Brans, Technical Deputy Mayor, stated that the Eigenbetrieb is the driving force behind modern infrastructure and assumes responsibility for safe, functional, and sustainable buildings in Dormagen. Daniela Winter, head of the municipal enterprise, highlights that these projects are complex in both financial and organisational terms.
The ED has set important milestones with a master plan for photovoltaic systems and a master plan for roof renovations to make the municipal building stock more energy-efficient. These initiatives demonstrate the enterprise's commitment to sustainability and long-term planning.
The construction of the fire station was completed in just 13 months, showcasing the ED's ability to deliver projects efficiently and effectively. The current head of the municipal enterprise is not explicitly named in the available search results. However, their leadership and dedication are evident in the successful completion of these projects.
