City's Magazin Access Route to Reopen on September 1

After a year-long renovation, Magazinstraße in Dresden-Hellerau is set to reopen to traffic on Monday, September 1, 2025. The city of Dresden fully covered the cost of the construction work, which amounted to approximately 600,000 euros gross.

The road renovation was carried out in three phases with full closure, ensuring the safety of both workers and pedestrians. The work was entrusted to two companies: Strabag and Bistra Bau GmbH & Co. KG from Schmöln-Putzkau.

The existing asphalt surface of Magazinstraße has been replaced with a new layer, and the roadway now measures 6.5 meters in width. In addition, some peripheral areas have been adapted with frost protection material to ensure the longevity of the road.

One of the key features of the renovation is the use of macro-ecological paving on both sides of the roadway, allowing for the infiltration of surface water. This eco-friendly approach aims to reduce the impact of the road on the local environment.

An amphibian crossing has been installed near a garage complex to protect the smooth snake, a species of interest in the area. Continuous public lighting has also been installed on Magazinstraße, ensuring safety for both pedestrians and vehicles.

The lighting installation was carried out by Nehlsen Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG, while the road and civil engineering work were handled by Bistra Bau GmbH & Co. KG.

While no new facts about the Neustadt Art Festival were mentioned, it's worth noting that Magazinstraße is a vibrant part of the city, home to a variety of businesses and residents. The renovation is expected to further enhance its appeal and contribute to the overall development of Dresden-Hellerau.

The section between house number 25 and the junction with Königsbrücker Straße was closed since May 2024. With the completion of the construction work, Magazinstraße is ready to welcome back its community and visitors once again.
