The city of Berlin is set to host a unique art event, "The Dark Rooms Vertical," organized by Himmel Unter Berlin. The exact location of the event, held in an old bank building, remains secret to avoid any potential mishaps, as a tragic incident similar to the one that occurred during the Lost Art festival in 2017 is being avoided.

Himmel Unter Berlin, a group that initially started as a response to their frustration with the Berlin art scene in 2016, has reclaimed and repurposed the 100-year old catacombs of Himmel under Berlin Vol. 2 in 2023. For The Dark Rooms Vertical, they have spent €12,000 on preparing the old bunker, transforming it into a space that aims to recreate the feeling of valuing nature that urban living often diminishes.

The event will feature the works of artist Boris Acket, showcasing 12 artworks themed around natural phenomena. The intense darkness and sound combine to open up the senses and create an emotional experience. Visitors are encouraged to stay for two hours and are provided with a yoga mat to encourage them to be present and connect with the art and people around them.

Dress code for the event is black, not for aesthetic reasons but to blend in with the darkness and avoid disturbing the visual experience. The old building used for the event has been thoroughly cleaned and made accessible for future projects.

Interestingly, The Dark Rooms Vertical is not typically associated with the traditional art world. Most of the artists involved establish their artworks at big festivals or art shows, and their work wouldn't fit in a typical gallery setting. This event offers a refreshing departure from the conventional art scene, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a unique and immersive art experience.
