Cleanup event, RuhrCleanUp 2025, scheduled for September 13, taking place in Arnsberg.

On September 13, the city of Arnsberg will participate in the "RuhrCleanUp" event, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing pollution in rivers. This clean-up, which takes place along the entire length of the Ruhr river, is part of the city's long-standing "Arnsberg putz(t) munter" campaign.

The clean-up in Arnsberg will take place from 10 am and will involve four meeting and collection points: Oeventrop (Oase car park), Alt-Arnsberg (Feauxweg/Campus Eichholz car park), Bruchhausen (car park at the sports club), and Neheim (Ohlbrücke/Möhne mouth). Bags and gloves will be provided by the Arnsberg Technical Services at each location.

Thousands of volunteers across the country will join this clean-up effort, which is not only a one-time event for Arnsberg. The city has been running the "Arnsberg putz(t) munter" campaign for many years, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.

By participating in "RuhrCleanUp", the city of Arnsberg aligns with three global sustainability goals: SDG 11 ("Sustainable Cities and Communities"), SDG 12 ("Responsible Consumption and Production"), and SDG 15 ("Life on Land"). The city's efforts also support SDG 14 ("Life Below Water"), as massive amounts of waste are entering our seas via our rivers.

Environmental organizations, initiatives, clubs, companies, or neighbourhood groups can join the Arnsberg clean-ups via the website www.ruhrcleanup.org. This platform also provides more information about the event, which can also be found on the city's homepage: www.unsere-stadt.de/umwelt.

It's important to note that the "RuhrCleanUp" is not the only initiative aimed at reducing pollution in rivers. The Initiative RhineCleanUp also works towards this goal, demonstrating a collective effort to protect our waterways.

By participating in "RuhrCleanUp", the city of Arnsberg contributes to Agenda 2030, a United Nations initiative aimed at achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. So, join us on September 13 and make a difference in preserving our environment!
