Cloud-Native Technology Training Expansion: Andela Joins Forces with CNCF to Educate 20,000 African Developers

In a move aimed at addressing the global shortage of skilled cloud professionals, Andela, a global talent outsourcing unicorn, has partnered with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). This collaboration seeks to equip 20,000 tech professionals, primarily from Africa, with cloud-native skills through a comprehensive training program.

Andela's CEO, Carrol Chang, emphasised the growing need for skilled tech professionals in Africa and their potential to address the global shortfall. The training program, which will be available to participants from Andela's talent marketplace consisting of over 150,000 tech professionals, will prepare participants for six to nine months.

The focus of the training program is on Kubernetes and other cloud-native tools. Participants will have the opportunity to earn certifications such as the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKAD).

Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of CNCF, stated that the collaboration with Andela aims to empower African developers and help close the global tech talent gap. He explained that the partnership comes at a time when the global demand for cloud-native talent is at an all-time high.

By 2025, it is projected that there will be 7.5 million unfilled cloud-related positions worldwide. The shortage of skilled cloud professionals has led to project delays, increased expenses, and diminished competitiveness for businesses.

The training program is part of Andela's mission to empower African developers. Participants will not only gain technical skills but also access to a supportive community and mentorship opportunities throughout their learning journey.
