Collisions involving a bus and a tram occur in Schwerin
In an unexpected turn of events, two separate transport accidents occurred in quick succession in the city of Schwerin, Germany, on Thursday morning.
The first incident took place on the B106 south of the city, where a forklift, for unknown reasons, moved into the left lane while driving in the right lane and collided with a bus passing there. The forklift's tines were reported to have hit the bus in the collision. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. However, the estimated damage to both vehicles is around 25,000 euros.
The second incident occurred in the city center later in the afternoon. A 76-year-old's car was hit by a tram. Initial findings suggest that the driver of the car ran a red light, although the exact cause of the collision is still under investigation. The damage from this incident is estimated to be around 20,000 euros. Again, thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The police are reporting on both incidents, and the cause of the collision between the forklift and the bus remains unclear. These incidents highlight the importance of road safety and adhering to traffic rules, especially in busy intersections, such as the one where the forklift-bus collision occurred.
It's worth noting that these incidents mark the second and third public transport accidents in Schwerin in a single day. The mode of transportation involved in the incidents, other than the car, was a tram.
These accidents serve as a reminder for all road users to exercise caution and vigilance, ensuring the safety of everyone on the roads. The city of Schwerin, known for its beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere, hopes to return to its usual tranquility soon.
