In a significant diplomatic visit, Murat Nurtleu, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, travelled to Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe, in June 2025. During his visit, Nurtleu met with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and held discussions whose details were not disclosed.

The visit also included a series of memorial visits. The Kazakh delegation paid tribute to Kazakhstani soldiers who fell on April 7, 1995, at a monument in Dushanbe. The monument serves as a poignant reminder of the soldiers who lost their lives while protecting the external borders of the CIS on the Tajik-Afghan stretch.

Apart from this, the delegation also laid a wreath at the monument to Kazakhstani soldiers and paid a floral tribute to the bust of Abai Kunanbayev, a great Kazakh poet, thinker, and educator, which is installed in Dushanbe's Abulkasim Firdavsi Culture and Recreation Park. The bust was installed in 2024.

On a separate note, Rustam Emomali, a prominent figure in Tajikistan, was awarded the Order "Dostyk" by the President of Kazakhstan. The location of the award ceremony was not specified. This prestigious award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of Kazakhstan-Tajikistan relations.

The Speaker of the Mazhilis, the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, and the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan, also had a meeting during this period. However, the purpose or context of the meeting was not detailed in the reports.

These visits and meetings underscore the strong diplomatic ties between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, and the ongoing efforts to strengthen and deepen these relations.
