Commencement of the inaugural school road project in Bergisch Gladbach yields success

The school street concept, aimed at enhancing safety around schools, has been warmly received in Bergisch Gladbach. The pilot phase of the initiative, which began a week after the new school year, was launched around KGS "In der Auen".

Moni Kellermann, chairperson of the school parents' association at KGS, expressed her approval for the school street. She described the start as great, and noted that the children felt safer with fewer cars in front of the school. This sentiment was echoed by parents, who also expressed pleasure with the safer environment for their children.

Ragnar Migenda, First Deputy Mayor of Bergisch Gladbach, praised the administration's mobility expertise and commitment to developing measures that meet a broad consensus. He acknowledged the openness and willingness to cooperate shown by the school, parents, and residents.

The school principal, Anton Pezl, confirmed the measure's acceptance by residents and the majority of parents. He thanked everyone involved for their cooperation in making the start successful.

During restricted hours, the direct street area in front of the school remained almost car-free. Motorized traffic was diverted to surrounding streets as planned, and the traffic flow on "In der Auen" Street was not significantly affected by the school street.

Ragnar Migenda emphasized that the school street concept is working and should continue to create a safe infrastructure for all road users. He thanked everyone for their cooperation and encouraged continued collaboration.

The city of Bergisch Gladbach will continue to closely accompany the implementation of the school street and is available for questions and suggestions at [email protected].

The feedback from the school community was overwhelmingly positive. Many parents showed understanding, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The concept of the school street is well received by parents, children, and residents, and Ragnar Migenda expressed his hope that it will continue to be a success.
