The plant will also deliver logistical efficiencies for supporting sales to the southwestern/western regions of the U.S., Mexico, and Latin America.

The announcement comes amidst challenges faced by the Coahuila automotive industry and a steep decline in US-Mexico truck crossings. Despite these challenges, the Volvo Group remains committed to its growth plans in the U.S. and Canadian markets, with the new plant providing additional capacity to support these ambitions.

The plant will incorporate cab body-in-white production and paint facilities, and it is expected to play a significant role in supporting Mack truck sales in Mexico and Latin America. However, further details about the leadership of the new plant remain undisclosed.
