In the heart of the University City of Gießen, the town hall echoed with excitement as Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher welcomed 28 new trainees, dual students, and interns from the city and the Middle Hesse Water Utilities (MWB).
The event, held to mark the beginning of these young professionals' careers, was an important step towards shaping the city's future, according to Mayor Becher. He emphasised the importance of nurturing young talent for the city's society.
The newcomers will be spread across ten different training occupations and study directions, ranging from administration to educational, environmental, technical, and craft areas. The induction program, designed to provide practical orientation, exchange, networking, and shared experiences, will keep them engaged during their first week.
The induction program includes a city rally, joint lunch breaks, and thematic workshops. The new trainees, dual students, and interns will also meet with the Youth and Trainee Representation (JAV).
Stefanie Köhler, the training manager, and representatives of the personnel representation were also present at the event. In his speech, Mayor Becher welcomed the new recruits and wished them a successful start.
The city of Gießen currently has over 70 young people in training, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable personnel development, securing young talent, and fostering a diverse, family-friendly administrative culture.
Interested individuals can apply for the training year 2026 with the city of Gießen. All information about professions, requirements, and deadlines can be found on the Training Pages.
However, no current public information is available about which new apprentices or dual students in which professions and programs are starting in the city of Gießen and at the Mittelhessische Wasserwerke, nor is there information about the next application period for the 2026 class.
