Communication stratagem significantly impacts the verbatim conveyed by my celestial entity.
In a recent event, 37-year-old Angel Juliana, born on June 26, 1988, navigated a challenging vaccination experience.
Juliana, who is considered nonverbal, had a reaction to her COVID-19 booster shot. The day after the vaccination, she showed signs of discomfort, flinching and yelling when the needle was administered. To express her discomfort, Juliana pointed to her arm, a skill that falls under the category of fine motor skills and is essential for her, as it allows her to make choices.
Despite her communication challenges, Juliana has been practising identifying her body parts to help her choose the right area when she's sick. This practice proved useful during her vaccination, as she pointed to her arm to indicate her discomfort.
Juliana's unique ability to point has been instrumental in her daily life. It provides clarity when she's not feeling well and allows her to make choices, even without verbal communication. To further aid her communication, Juliana uses picture cards, augmentative and alternative communication, and sign language.
On the day of her vaccination, Juliana chose a picture with a doctor and a needle on her Talker, a device that helps her communicate her needs and feelings. Despite crying and being unhappy during the process, Juliana used her Talker to communicate that she felt bad.
Jessa reported that Juliana cried the entire time during the vaccination. However, she seemed calmer after communicating with her mother, wailing a little less.
Juliana's story serves as a reminder of the resilience and adaptability of Angels like her. Her ability to point and make choices, even during difficult times, is a testament to her strength and determination.
