Community center established by Prescott Group debuts in Halifax
New Prescott Group Facility Opens in Downtown Halifax
The Prescott Group has unveiled its new facility, Progress Place, in the heart of Halifax. The opening day saw approximately 92 participants gather to celebrate the occasion.
The Prescott Group's community engagement manager, Charlene Kuhn, shared that this is the first time the team and all participants have a space where they can be under the same roof. The new facility is designed for social engagement, professional development, and community integration.
Alice Evans, the CEO of the Prescott Group, highlighted the trauma-informed design of the Progress Place facility. The building features natural colours, wide hallways, and easy access to various amenities. Evans mentioned that the aim is to attract more people and participants.
The Canadian Progress Club Halifax pledged $1-million for the Progress Place project in March. The person who took over the patronage of the construction of the new Prescott Group building in Halifax is not publicly specified in available information.
The new facility offers numerous opportunities. Participants such as Rob Bucks, Jennifer Richardson, Jessica Watson, and Brenda Pottie have expressed their excitement about the new space. Bucks found the new Progress Place facility appealing, while Watson believes it will aid her learning. Richardson expressed that being close to everything and being together finally means new opportunities and more fun. Pottie stated that Progress Place is huge.
The facility includes sensory rooms, arts and craft areas, board rooms, large dining spaces, and quiet rooms. It is fully accessible and includes special rooms for members. The location downtown offers easy access to the library, YMCA, stores, public gardens, Halifax Dance, Halifax Lancers, and equine therapy centers. Moreover, the facility offers employment opportunities and is close to potential job locations.
Michelina DiBacco found the new Prescott Group facility impressive. The team welcomes new volunteers and is eager to teach people about their services. Progress Place is open to anyone, and the Prescott Group looks forward to fostering a sense of community in the heart of Halifax.
