Companies seeking fresh talent in the fair-minded North Upper Palatinate are casting their nets wide, in a bid to reel in promising catches.

In the district of Weiden, a bustling hub of activity is underway. With 180 training occupations and 2318 training places offered by the local employment agency, there's a wealth of opportunities for young people seeking to start their careers.

Currently, there are 886 applicants, with 520 males and 366 females, expressing their interest in these training opportunities. However, a gap persists as Thomas Würdinger, the director of the employment agency, notes that there are more training places than applicants.

Mayor Jens Meyer of Weiden has appealed to the youth, encouraging them to start their training in the region and stay. This appeal comes as part of an effort to bridge the gap between training places and applicants.

The region offers a diverse range of training opportunities, not just in traditional sectors, but also in non-traditional ones, with flexible working hours. Even craft businesses, although offering fewer opportunities, provide quality training.

Large training companies like Witron and BHS continue to promote training, ensuring a strong foundation for the future workforce.

Amidst the focus on training, life in Weiden continues as usual. Notable events include the marriage of Plößberg's carnival president Lisa Gebert and Philipp Hofmann in the church in Beidl, and the casual wedding of Vera Jankowski and Michael Schmeller in the Tirschenreuth registry office, celebrated with friends from all over Germany in the Czech Republic.

In other news, a tragic accident occurred in North Rhine-Westphalia, where an electric car crashed into a tree and caught fire, resulting in the death of three occupants, including two children.

The district of Weiden is also not immune to the digital age. Social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Pinterest, Twitter, and traditional media like Mail and Print, are widely used for news consumption.

However, not everything in Weiden is smooth sailing. A 31-year-old filmed a drunken colleague at a company party in Amberg and showed the video to other colleagues, leading to a complaint.

Moreover, 13 companies wanted to participate in the training fair but couldn't. Regrettably, the search results do not provide information about these companies.

In an effort to explore various training options, a woman from the region with twin daughters who wish to start their training in 2025 visited the fair. The 17th training fair at the Max-Reger-Hall brought together 120 businesses and young people.

As the district of Weiden continues to grow and evolve, it remains a vibrant and dynamic place, offering opportunities for career growth, personal development, and community engagement.
