Construction commences on a liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) facility in Wyoming, spearheaded by Reliant.

Reliant Holdings, a Texas-based company that currently supplies approximately 8% of the US CO2 market, has announced the construction of a new liquid CO2 plant in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The new facility, a joint venture between energy infrastructure company Tallgrass and AI data center developer Crusoe, is expected to come online in Q4 2025.

The new plant will be built at Dyno Nobel's explosives manufacturing site and is part of Reliant Holdings' ongoing efforts to invest in new projects while operating its current supply. The purpose of the facility is to capture CO2 emissions from production processes and convert them into liquid CO2 for the merchant market.

Peter Henderson, General Manager of Operations at Dyno Nobel's Cheyenne manufacturing site, has stated that seeing CO2 emissions being utilized for new products aligns with Dyno Nobel's commitment to sustainability and zero harm. The new plant is expected to create jobs and support local economic activity in the Cheyenne area.

Scott Vanderburg, CEO of Reliant Holdings, stated that the plant will aid in meeting the growing demand for CO2 across food, beverage, and industrial sectors in the Rocky Mountain region. The new plant is projected to contribute an additional 25,000 tonnes of liquid CO2 capacity to the region annually.

The operator of the facility, Reliant Processing (a subsidiary of Reliant Holdings), has commenced construction on the new plant. The facility will operate in compliance with regulatory safety and environmental standards.

The new plant in Wyoming is expected to help meet the increasing demand for CO2 in various sectors, particularly in the Rocky Mountain region. Reliant Holdings' investment in this new plant underscores the company's commitment to sustainability and its role in supporting the growing demand for CO2 across various industries.
