Construction of Hennebergerstraße pedestrian path successfully finished
Passau City Constructs New Sidewalk in Heining District for Enhanced Safety and Accessibility
The city of Passau has completed a new sidewalk construction project on Hennebergerstraße in the Heining district. The new sidewalk, which connects Goldberg to Neustifter Straße, was built by the city's municipal Works Department and is intended to enhance safety, particularly for the school route to the bus stop.
The new sidewalk, approximately 30 meters long and 1.50 meters wide, was constructed in response to public suggestions. Many residents expressed the need for a safer footpath to the bus stop due to the traffic volume in the area.
The construction of the new sidewalk began on 07/10/2025. The Works Department completed the project, which included excavation, cobblestone laying, corner support installation, and foundation preparation for screening. The installation of the base and wearing course has made the new sidewalk usable.
The new sidewalk provides access to the centrally located bus stop in the newly developed area of Heiningviertel on Hennebergerstraße. Prior to the construction, the bus stop was only accessible from Goldberg. Now, it is accessible from both Goldberg and Neustifter Straße.
In addition to the new sidewalk, the city plans to install a pedestrian crossing in the lower Hennebergerstraße. An additional construction project is also planned: the erection of a gabion wall along the adjacent property in the near future.
The construction of the new sidewalk cost approximately €17,500. The city acquired the necessary property for the new sidewalk's construction.
This new sidewalk construction is part of the development in the Heining district of Passau. A similar sidewalk construction project was completed at the end of last year, connecting the intersection of Walter-Hornsteiner-Straße to the bus stop at Rittsteiger Straße, house number 87.
The new sidewalk construction aims to improve the safety and accessibility of the area, particularly for pedestrians using the school route to the bus stop. The city of Passau continues to prioritise the needs of its residents and invest in infrastructure projects to create a safer and more connected city.
