Metro Construction on Dubai's Blue Line: Rerouting and Shutdown of Parking Facilities at Centrepoint Station

Construction on Dubai Metro's Blue Line requires temporary reroutes and the closure of the car park at Centrepoint Station.

The Dubai Metro Blue Line construction, one of the emirate's most significant transport infrastructure initiatives, is currently underway across the city. This expansion project spans 30 kilometres and includes 14 stations, connecting nine key districts across Dubai.

Recently, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a traffic diversion at Centrepoint Metro Station due to the ongoing construction. As a result, the entrance to the multi-storey car park from Airport Road at Centrepoint Metro Station has been closed. Motorists are advised to use Exit 1 to access the newly designated parking spaces at Centrepoint.

The taxi stands at Centrepoint Metro Station have been relocated behind the car park on 49C Street. RTA encourages commuters to consider alternative routes due to diversions at Centrepoint.

Once complete, the Dubai Metro Blue Line is expected to ease pressure on Dubai Metro Red and Green routes, reducing commute times by 20 per cent. The new line will feature three interchange stations: Creek Station, Centrepoint Station, and International City 1 Station.

The Dubai Metro Blue Line network will consist of 28 trains, capable of carrying 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions. It is projected to carry 200,000 riders in 2030 and rise to 320,000 passengers by 2040. Travel times on the Blue Line are expected to range between 10 and 25 minutes.

The Dubai Metro Blue Line will be a significant addition to the current railway network, bringing it to 78 stations and 131km. The line will also include nine elevated stations and five underground stations.

The RTA urges road users to follow on-site signboards and plan their journeys in advance. Once the construction management or relevant authorities overseeing the nearby construction works reopen the access gates of the multi-storey car park at Centrepoint Metro Station, normal operations are expected to resume.

The Dubai Metro Blue Line construction follows earlier diversions around Creek Metro Station, another site affected by the Blue Line development. The Blue Line is expected to have a positive impact on the city's transportation system, easing congestion on the routes it serves and providing a more efficient means of transportation for Dubai's growing population.
