The Rhein-Erft district police have made significant strides in the strategic investigation aimed at combating thefts from tradespeople's vehicles. According to the latest figures transmitted via news aktuell, over 500 administrative offenses have been enforced as part of this operation.

The majority of these cases were reported in Kerpen, Hürth, and Bergheim. Notably, compared to the peak in April, the number of registered thefts in May decreased by two-thirds. Since the beginning of the strategic investigation, police officers have taken over a hundred criminal reports and recorded over 350 cases of thefts from tradespeople's vehicles.

Perpetrators are known to assess the expected loot before breaking into a vehicle or smashing a window. The seizure of tools used by the perpetrators has supplemented the investigation results. The deployed forces have initiated necessary measures and followed up on any leads.

The extension of the strategic investigation by an additional 28 days has been confirmed by County Commissioner Frank Rock. However, the specific timeframe of this extension could not be confirmed from the available information.

In an effort to prevent further incidents, it is recommended to remove valuable items from vehicles when leaving and parking. In case of suspicious observations, citizens are advised to contact the police immediately via the emergency number 110.

The results of the strategic investigation by the Rhein-Erft district police are providing other police authorities with clues for new investigative approaches. Nearly 30 reports prepared by police officers are currently being evaluated by detectives from the Criminal Police.
