In the heart of Barcelona, a jewelry firm named Bagués-Masriera has been revolutionizing the world of jewelry since 1839. Founded by Narcís and Amadeu Bagués, the company initially began as a workshop and jewelry store. Over the years, it has grown and evolved, becoming synonymous with Art Nouveau jewelry, thanks to the additions of Lluís Masriera and his whimsical, nature-inspired designs.

Lluís Masriera, a pioneer in the Modernism movement, infused his creations with a touch of fantasy and whimsy, leaving an indelible mark on the jewelry industry. His designs, full of intricate details and organic shapes, have become collector's items and can be found in jewelry stores across the globe, from the United States to Russia.

The current CEO of Bagués-Masriera is Joan Oliveras Bagués, who has continued to uphold the company's rich heritage. Under his leadership, the firm produces jewelry through its Barcelona workshops and an Italian supplier who works with high-end brands. The company's production includes the modernist jewelry collection Masriera, which continues to be a significant part of Bagués-Masriera's output.

In 2012, Bagués-Masriera presented two contemporary jewelry collections: Danza Bagués and Collage. The Danza Bagués collection pays homage to the kinetics of dance, while the Collage collection is a tribute to the technique of fired enamel. The modernist jewelry collection Masriera, for that year, introduced a floral theme, inspired by the relationship between nature and human optics.

The Masriera firm has been passed down through generations, maintaining the family tradition. This legacy was showcased in two monographic auctions at Christie's in 1980 and 1982. Today, Bagués-Masriera stands as a coveted brand, featured in auctions at Christie's, and continues to be the emblem of Barcelona jewelry for its creations in jewelry and silverware.

In 1985, the Masriera and Bagués firms united, positioning Bagués-Masriera as a reference in the art of enameling and the techniques of plique-à-jour and base-taille. The company's artisans create a set of floral-themed jewelry pieces, including pendants, rings, brooches, bracelets, and earrings, that continue to captivate audiences with their intricate designs and timeless elegance.

As Bagués-Masriera moves forward, it remains committed to preserving its rich heritage while embracing innovation and contemporary styles. The name Masriera remains synonymous with Art Nouveau jewelry, but the company's collections continue to evolve, offering a blend of tradition and modernity that resonates with jewelry enthusiasts around the world.
