Blogger Arrested in Kazakhstan for Offensive Online Content

In a recent development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Kazakhstan has issued a reminder to all bloggers and social media users about the consequences of posting provocative and offensive material online. This reminder comes after a series of arrests of bloggers in the country.

The most recent arrest was that of Temirlan Ensebek, a blogger from the Zhambyl region, who was taken into custody in June 2020. The arrest was due to controversial videos posted online by Ensebek, which contained harassment of patrons, indecent scenes, profanity, and obscene language.

Ensebek was charged with public profanity, disrespect towards others, and gross violation of public order, and was sentenced to 15 days in detention.

Another blogger was arrested for 10 days for aggressive filming of an advertisement in the Zhambyl region. The arrest occurred as a result of outrage among residents.

The operator of a social media channel, who also worked as an art director at an entertainment venue in Astana, was also arrested. The details of the offending content posted by this individual are not clear, but the incident serves as a reminder of the need to adhere to legal and moral norms on the internet.

The MVD has stated that the pursuit of views and likes does not justify breaking the law. Profanity and insults are not considered satire, and all such incidents will be addressed in accordance with the legislation.

The deputy made a comment on the detention of Temirlan Ensebek, emphasising the importance of respecting others and upholding moral and legal norms in the digital age.

This incident serves as a reminder that the internet is not a lawless space, and those who break the law can face serious consequences. The MVD encourages all bloggers and social media users to exercise caution and responsibility when posting content online.
