Coordinating Agencies Target Joint Action Day in Hagen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Marken Region for Enhanced Motorcycle Track Safety
Speeding Crackdown in Märkischer Kreis: A Focus on Motorcycle Safety
On May 18, 2025, a joint traffic safety action day was held in Hagen, Siegen-Wittgenstein, and Märkischer Kreis, with a particular emphasis on preventing motorcycle accidents and enhancing long-term traffic safety on popular routes.
In Märkischer Kreis, a total of 35 motorcyclists were caught speeding, while around 130 vehicles, including 12 motorcycles, were found to be driving too fast in Wilnsdorf and Burbach. The fastest motorcyclist, riding a Kawasaki, was clocked at 151 km/h in an area where the speed limit was 100 km/h, but no technical issues were found in the checks on all motorcycles.
Car drivers were also targeted, with officers addressing and sensitizing them to the dangers through accident videos during the control day in Märkischer Kreis. Police checks revealed technical defects on a total of 13 motorcycles, such as issues with tires or exhaust systems.
The police authorities of Märkischer Kreis expressed their gratitude to the support of the traffic safety association, DEKRA, and the German Red Cross during the control day. The Red Cross was present, demonstrating first aid in the popular "applause curve" on the Nordhelle.
In Hagen, speed and vehicle checks were conducted at several control points, with traffic safety advisors present at the Hengsteysee. Interested motorcyclists had the opportunity to examine an airbag vest or test "drunk goggles" to promote safety awareness.
Unfortunately, one motorcyclist in Halver, Kierspe, Meinerzhagen, or another nearby town was found to be 56 km/h over the speed limit and now faces a driving ban, but the exact identity of the individual is not provided in the available sources.
The police in Siegen-Wittgenstein set up an information booth in the "applause curve" between Hilchenbach and Netphen, where they recorded around 140 speeding offenses (cars and motorcycles) and several mobile phone offenses.
The police authorities of Märkischer Kreis wish all motorcyclists a safe season and urge them to drive responsibly and pay attention to themselves and others. Similar deployments are already planned for the future in Märkischer Kreis.

As the summer riding season begins, it is a reminder for all motorists to prioritize safety and adhere to speed limits to ensure a enjoyable and incident-free journey for everyone on the road.
