Could Verstappen potentially intensify the on-track competition between McLaren drivers?
The qualifying session for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort has come to a close, and the provisional grid for Sunday's race is set.
In a thrilling display of speed and skill, McLaren's Oscar Piastri clinched the pole position with a time of 1:11.249, securing the top spot on the grid. Piastri's teammate, Daniel Ricciardo, will start from the eleventh position.
Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) will line up on the grid in third place, followed closely by George Russell (Mercedes) in fifth and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) in sixth. Red Bull's Sergio Perez will start from the fourth position, while teammate Max Verstappen will begin from the second spot.
Red Bull's Verstappen is expected to challenge Piastri at the start of the race, after a close call for Piastri in the final sector during the qualifying session. Verstappen is still under investigation by the race stewards following the qualifying session.
AlphaTauri's Yuki Tsunoda will start from the tenth position, with Kevin Magnussen (Haas) in eighth and Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo) in ninth. There was a close call for Oliver Bearman during the qualifying session, and he is currently under investigation by the stewards.
The Dutch Grand Prix is set to be an exciting race, with Piastri starting from the pole position and Verstappen looking to overtake him at the start. Tune in on Sunday to see who will take the chequered flag at Zandvoort.
