Couple assaulted and verbally abused due to their sexual orientation
A 27-year-old man was verbally abused and physically assaulted in Bremen's city centre on Saturday evening. The incident occurred outside a supermarket on Obernstraße around 7:20 PM.
According to reports, a group of five people approached the man and his partner. One man in the group repeatedly insulted the man with homophobic slurs. The reason for the abuse was that the man was with his same-sex partner.
The public has not been asked to provide any information about the suspects. The other attacker was around the same age, with blonde curly hair. The height of both attackers was approximately 5'11". The one described was 17 to 20 years old, with a dark complexion, black shoulder-length hair, a mustache, and a goatee.
When the man threatened to call the police, two members of the group physically assaulted him. The assault included kicking his leg and striking him in the head. The group followed the couple into the store and continued to harass them before fleeing the scene after the assault.
At the time of writing, the alleged perpetrators of the assault have not yet been apprehended; no specific suspects have been publicly identified so far. The immediate search for the suspects has so far yielded no results, and no timeline was given for when the search might be resumed. The whereabouts of the attackers after the incident remain unknown.
The police have not released any information about potential leads in the case. They urge anyone with information that could help identify the attackers to come forward.
