Court Decides Fate of Individual Involved in Krasnodar Accident Leaving Woman Double Amputee
In Krasnodar, Russia, on the evening of September 23, 2024, a tragic car accident took place that left several individuals injured and one woman with a life-altering injury. The accident occurred on Mira Street towards Krasnoarmeiskaya, with the "KIA K5" vehicle involved swerving onto the sidewalk as the driver, under the influence of Gabapentin, misjudged the traffic situation.
According to the court case materials reviewed in the sentencing process, the driver exceeded the speed limit as he approached the intersection with Kommunarov. As a result of the accident, pedestrians and passengers in the car suffered injuries, and tragically, one victim had both legs amputated.
The court found the man guilty of causing the car accident that resulted in serious bodily harm. In response, the court issued a verdict, sentencing the perpetrator to 3 years and 6 months in a minimum-security colony. In addition, the man was given a 2-year driving ban and ordered to pay 3 million rubles in compensation for moral damages to the victim.
The sentence was reported by the Unified Press Service of the Courts of Krasnodar Krai, and the verdict has not yet come into force. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from driving under the influence and disregarding traffic laws.
