Court files offer details about the case of missing children Lilly and Jack Sullivan

More than three months have passed since the disappearance of six-year-old Lilly and four-year-old Jack Sullivan in rural northeastern Nova Scotia. The investigation began on May 10, 2025, when Malehya Brooks-Murray, the children's mother, reported their disappearance at 10:01 a.m.

The initial report came after a tip that the children might be with their biological father, Cody Sullivan. However, the caller did not provide any proof, and police received no further concrete evidence to support this claim.

The police met with Cody Sullivan on May 22, and he confirmed that he had been in a relationship with the mother but had not seen the children in three years. He also stated that he was paying child support.

The investigation has seen numerous court orders, including one for the Cobequid Pass, a tolled section of highway in Nova Scotia, for video records and closed circuit footage of all drivers leaving the province between May 1 and May 3.

The children were last seen outside their home on May 1, accompanied by their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, and their stepfather, Daniel Martell, at a local Dollarama store. A witness reported seeing the children with a Caucasian female of about 50-60 years old, waiting next to an older model tan or gold sedan with the backdoor open.

Several tips have come in during the investigation, including one from a witness who saw children walking along the road on May 2. Another witness, Natasha Haywood, reported seeing two children, one with dirty blond hair and the other with darkish hair in pigtails, walking along the road on the same day.

However, none of the tips have led to the location of Jack and Lilly, or provided any information that has been corroborated by the investigation. Despite this, no information suggests that the disappearance of the children is criminal in nature.

The family confirmed that a pink blanket found during the search of the heavily wooded areas near the children's home belonged to Lilly. A second piece of a pink blanket, believed to belong to Lilly, was also found in the trash during the investigation.

Janie MacKenzie, the children's stepgrandmother, underwent a polygraph examination, but her "physiology was not suitable for analysis and an opinion on the polygraph examination was not rendered." Police conducted at least four polygraph tests during their investigation. Daniel Martell's polygraph test indicated he was truthful, and Brooks-Murray's test found she was truthful when answering specific questions, although the list of questions is redacted. Cody Sullivan also passed a polygraph examination on June 12, 2025.

In early June, a witness met with police near the corner of Gairloch Road and Lansdowne Station Road to provide more details. At this point, the investigation continues, with the hope that more information will come to light and help in finding Lilly and Jack Sullivan.
