Court Rules Commission Violated Article 85 (1) of the Treaty in Fulfilling Its Obligations.

In an unsettling turn of events, a 26-year-old man, who is a resident of Lübeck, was arrested at the city's central bus station (ZOB) on August 30, 2025. The man, whose name remains undisclosed in the available sources, is of Afghan nationality.

The incident unfolded around 9:00 PM, with several patrol car crews being dispatched to the ZOB due to reports of fighting on the premises. Upon arrival, the police officers found the man among a crowd of about 50 people.

The man was initially causing disturbances at the bus station, allegedly assaulting several people and seeking physical confrontations. The situation escalated when the man refused to calm down, shouted, and sought a confrontation with a 46-year-old man. It is reported that the 46-year-old had allegedly been assaulted by the man earlier at a nearby location at the ZOB, with visible injuries to the victim's face.

During the process of taking the man into custody, a police officer was injured. The man offered significant resistance, insulting and threatening the officers. He repeatedly kicked and punched the cell door while in police custody and even urinated and spat in the cell.

A blood sample was taken from the man on order of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Lübeck due to suspicion of drug use. The man continued to be aggressive even after being placed in police custody.

Investigations have been initiated against the man on suspicion of assault, insult, threat, and resistance to law enforcement officers. The man spent the rest of the night in the detention cell. The injured police officer is currently unfit for duty.

The attacker is said to have injured an 18-year-old man at the location as well. The overall situation then moved outside. The authorities are urging the public to maintain peace and order and to report any suspicious activities to the local police.
