Cowboy Trevon Diggs shares thoughts with Micah Parsons following the game, offers health status update on both players

The Dallas Cowboys' preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons was overshadowed by the contract negotiations between All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons and team owner Jerry Jones, but the football game was not the only topic of discussion.

Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs, a close friend of Parsons, served as Parsons' spokesman after the game and discussed Parsons' back injury and Week 1 availability. Diggs expressed his regret over the contract negotiations but maintained his focus on the team.

Diggs himself is dealing with an injury, having reinjured his left knee at the tail end of the 2024 season. He had a chrondal tissue graft surgery on it in January and is set for another ramp up in the remaining 12 days before the season opener. Diggs' Week 1 availability, however, remains uncertain.

Despite Diggs' absence, Dallas' cornerback group can hold their own, according to Diggs. Kaiir Elam, a fast, smart, and capable player, is a notable addition to the group. Osa Odighizuwa, a defensive tackle for the Cowboys and close friend of Parsons, was asked about Parsons' Week 1 availability but declined to comment.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer maintained that he feels good about Parsons suiting up for Week 1, and Diggs is eager to return to the field. The football veteran wants to practice extensively and get as many game reps as possible. Diggs maintains his communication with the team about his knee injury has been great.

However, the Cowboys' front office docked Diggs' 2025 pay by $500,000 due to a disagreement about his decision to train and rehab away from the facility. This decision has not seemed to affect Diggs' spirit, as he stated that he wishes everything could be handled and taken care of, and that Parsons is the heart and soul of the team.

As for the search results, they do not provide information about Diggs' doctor responsible for his injury and return to play. Diggs and Parsons were seen exiting AT&T Stadium together after the game, a sight that is sure to ease Cowboys fans' concerns about the team's unity.

The upcoming weeks will be crucial for both Diggs and Parsons as they prepare for the season opener. The Cowboys will be counting on their star players to lead them to victory.
