Crafty Burglars Embezzle Coin Collection
On August 20, 2025, at 12:00h, an incident occurred in the Rueningen district of Braunschweig. According to the Braunschweig Police, an unknown man claimed to have found a purse in the area. However, it was later revealed that the man used the purse as a pretext to enter an apartment, where he stole a valuable coin collection from the bedroom.
The victim of the theft was an 89-year-old resident who was not home at the time. The senior became suspicious upon learning about the incident and alerted the authorities. The unknown man, sensing the senior's suspicion, fled the apartment.
The police have initiated an investigation, with the Criminal Police securing the crime scene. Despite their efforts, the second suspect who stole the coin collection remains unidentified. Only one offender was described as unknown, and no name or further identification has been disclosed by the police.
