Notre Dame's Film Making Summer School Nurtures Future Talent

Next week, the Media department at Notre Dame will welcome a new cohort of students for its annual filmmaking summer school. This intensive, one-week program has the potential to foster future Oscar winners, as seen in its first year when five Prospect students participated.

During the summer school, students were immersed in the world of filmmaking. They learned how to write a script in industry standard format, create an effective storyboard, and use specialist equipment and software. These skills were put to the test when the students filmed an original short film titled 'After the Bell'.

The participants spoke highly of their experience. One student shared, "I had an amazing time during the summer school. It was a great opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and work with others who share similar interests." Another expressed excitement about attending Notre Dame after the summer school, stating, "I can't wait to start my Media A-level course at Notre Dame. I feel well-prepared and eager to continue my filmmaking journey."

The Media department is eager to meet the new students joining for lessons next week. They are particularly looking forward to seeing the creative projects that will emerge from this unique learning experience. The students who attended the first annual filmmaking summer school have all applied to study Media A-level at Notre Dame starting September.

Despite our efforts, we were unable to find the names of the five Prospect students who attended the first annual Filmmaker Summer School of the Media Department and have now started the Media A-Level course with the institution. However, their contributions to the filmmaking community are not forgotten, and their passion for the craft is evident in the short film they produced.

In conclusion, the filmmaking summer school at Notre Dame is more than just a learning experience; it's a platform for budding filmmakers to showcase their talent, learn from industry professionals, and make lifelong connections. As the summer school continues next week, we look forward to seeing the new wave of talent that will emerge from this exciting program.
