Breaking News: Masked Suspects Attempt Armed Robbery at Gelsenkirchen Discount Store

On Wednesday evening, just before closing time, a discount store in Scholven, Gelsenkirchen, was targeted by three masked individuals. The incident, which occurred on July 16, 2025, at approximately 20:55, saw two suspects enter the store on Scheideweg Street, while a third waited outside.

One of the suspects, wearing a red jacket and jeans, threatened a 54-year-old employee from Dorsten with a knife, demanding access to the cash register and safe. Another masked suspect, estimated to be between 17 and 25 years old, threatened a 30-year-old employee from Bottrop with an electroshocker, also demanding access to the cash register.

However, the branch manager, a 28-year-old from Gladbeck, bravely intervened, causing the suspects to flee without any loot. Two of the suspects fled towards a nearby park, while the third fled on an e-scooter towards Gladbeck.

Despite the intervention, the identities of the suspects remain unknown. No further details about injuries or arrests were provided in the article.
