CRKT transformed the Provoke Karambit knife into a compact hatchet for carrying convenience.
New Pocket-Sized Axe from CRKT: The Provoke X Axe
CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool) has unveiled a new product at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas – the Provoke X Axe. This pocket-sized axe is a transformation of CRKT's flagship Provoke pocket knife, offering a unique blend of functionality and style.
The Provoke X Axe retails for $350 and will be available for purchase from April 2, both on CRKT's website and in physical stores. The axe weighs 13.2oz and features a handle made from stainless steel with glass-reinforced overlays, measuring 8.69" in length.
Unlike the standard and EDC versions of the Provoke, the Provoke X Axe comes with an adjustable pocket clip. This feature allows users to swap the clip for either left- or right-side carry, providing added convenience.
The blade of the Provoke X Axe is 1.84" long and 0.12" thick, adding minimal bulk to the overall size of the axe. The blade is made from D2 stainless steel, coated with titanium nitride for an all-black aesthetic. This coating also ensures durability and corrosion resistance.
The Provoke X Axe's handle retains the ambidextrous finger hole from the original Provoke knife for easy deployment. The axe can be opened with a flick of the wrist after releasing the Deadbolt lock on the side. This lock holds the blade in place when not in use, ensuring safety.
The Provoke X Axe was designed by Joe Caswell, who spent 3 years and developed over 90 prototypes to perfect it. Caswell originally designed the Provoke knife, which was adopted by CRKT in 2019 from his Kickstarter-favourite Morphing Karambit. The Provoke knife became popular due to its unique design and the Kinematic folding and deployment system.
The Provoke X Axe is not limited in edition size, making it accessible to a wider audience. Its unique design, ambidextrous features, and pocket-sized convenience are sure to make it a hit among outdoor enthusiasts and survivalists.
