The Customs Service in Germany is opening its doors to a new batch of trainees, offering a secure and exciting career with varied tasks. These young individuals, numbering around 1,700, were officially sworn in as future customs officers on September 1, 2025.

Among these new recruits, 37 are starting an apprenticeship in the middle service, while 9 are embarking on a dual study program in the higher service. The apprenticeship in the middle service lasts two years, qualifying the trainees for the professional title of "financial administrator". On the other hand, the dual study program for the higher service lasts three years and concludes with the academic degree "Bachelor of Laws" (LL.B.).

The dual study program and apprenticeship in the Customs Service provide a unique blend of theory and practice, ensuring a well-rounded education. Interested parties can apply for a start date of September 1, 2026, at the Main Customs Office Dresden for both higher and middle customs service.

For those interested in the administrative informatics program, applications are also accepted. The contact for higher service customs apprenticeship and study, as well as administrative informatics study, can be reached at the Main Customs Office Dresden. The deadline for applications is October 15, 2025.

Senior Government Director Franz Horak welcomed the new trainees to the Main Customs Office Dresden on September 1, 2025. Upon completion of their training, young customs officers can expect employment in a variety of customs service areas, contributing to tax revenues, consumer protection, job security, and the digitalization of administration in Germany.
