Drug authorities detained individuals at the border based on a document linked to illicit drug smuggling, identified as HZA-LÖ.

Customs officials at the border intercepted individuals suspected of drug smuggling, as per documents from HZA-LÖ, titled "Paper Halting Drug Smugglers at the Border".

On July 22, 2025, a significant seizure of cocaine and cash took place at the Weil am Rhein-Autobahn customs office. The incident involved a 44-year-old female driver who was stopped by the Mobile Control Unit of the Customs Office Lörrach.

During the inspection of the woman's vehicle, customs officers discovered a large envelope in the floor area behind the passenger seat. Upon further investigation, they found several sheets of paper soaked in cocaine and 4,000 euros in cash.

The suspect was taken into custody under suspicion of possession of narcotics in a significant amount. A drug test conducted on site confirmed the presence of cocaine. The following day, a warrant was issued by the examining magistrate at Lörrach District Court for the same suspicion.

Maya Jehle, the Press Spokesperson for the Main Customs Office Lörrach, confirmed the incident. She can be reached at 07621 941-1210 or via email at [email protected]. The official website of the Main Customs Office Lörrach is www.zoll.de.

The shipping information on the envelope suggested an origin from Brazil. Further investigations are being conducted by the Customs Investigation Office Stuttgart to determine the source and destination of the illegal substances.

For any further inquiries, please contact the Main Customs Office Lörrach. The Customs Investigation Office Stuttgart is also available for additional information. The suspect in the case was taken to a detention facility.
