Cycling Around the City: Set for May 18th

The city of Garbsen is gearing up for the annual Cycling Challenge, an event aimed at promoting cycling in daily life for climate protection and personal health. Registration for the challenge is now open and can be done at www.stadtradeln.de.

The challenge encourages participants to cycle for three weeks, starting on May 18th and concluding on June 7th. Every kilometer cycled during this period counts towards the total distance covered by the city. Last year, Garbsen cycled around 175,000 kilometers and came third in the Region Hannover in terms of absolute kilometers.

Participation in the Cycling Challenge is open to all interested individuals. For questions or inquiries about the challenge, residents can contact ADFC on (0 51 31) 5 57 84 or the city administration on (0 51 31) 70 74 79. The challenge is supported by the city and ADFC Garbsen-Seelze.

In addition to the individual challenge, a school competition, the School Cycling Challenge, is being organized by the Region Hannover and the Umweltzentrum Hannover. Garbsen's city administration is also introducing its own school competition for the Cycling Challenge. The primary school class and the class from further education schools that cycle the most kilometers will receive money prizes and be honored at the city's cyclist's barbecue.

The top ten individual cyclists from Garbsen will also be honored at the cyclist's barbecue, and attractive prizes and vouchers await the top cyclists. The Cycling Challenge 2025 logo is being sprayed onto streets and paths to mark the event.

The Cycling Challenge aims to attract as many participants as possible and is an annual event in Garbsen. Kilometer sheets can be downloaded and submitted at the town hall by June 11th or sent by email. The challenge is free to participate in.
