Cyclist, aged 47, succumbs to injuries sustained in a traffic collision two weeks later
A tragic traffic accident claimed the life of a 47-year-old cyclist in Essen on May 26. The incident occurred at the pedestrian crossing on Richard-Wagner Street, but initial reports suggest that the accident took place on Rellinghauser Street in Essen-South Quarter on May 12.
The cyclist was crossing the street from the right at the time of the collision with a car, driven by a 22-year-old individual in a black Dacia. The cyclist was severely injured in the accident and was rushed to the hospital, where they unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
The cyclist's death marks the fourth traffic fatality in Essen this year, and an autopsy conducted on May 28 confirmed the cause of death as a result of the accident on May 12. The name of the driver involved in the accident has not been made publicly available.
