Cyclists Mads Pedersen and Giulio Ciccone aim for a triple win in stages, points jersey, and polka dot jersey at the Vuelta a España competition.

Lidl-Trek, a formidable team in the cycling world, has announced its strategy for the upcoming Vuelta a España 2025. The team, led by riders Mads Pedersen and Giulio Ciccone, will aim for a balanced approach, targeting both stage wins and the coveted mountains jersey.

Mads Pedersen, fresh from his victories at the Tour of Denmark and the Giro d'Italia, will aim for the general classification. His teammate, Carlos Verona, will join him in this pursuit for the general classification. However, it's worth noting that Lidl-Trek does not have an overall contender for the Vuelta a España.

Pedersen's ambitions extend beyond the general classification. He aims to win some stages and secure the points jersey, especially on the rolling and flat stages, particularly Saturday's opening stage from Turin to Novara.

Giulio Ciccone, on the other hand, prefers to focus on stage wins. He has demonstrated his prowess in uphill finishes, having won the Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa and a stage at the Vuelta a Burgos. Ciccone will take over for the many uphill finishes in the Vuelta a España, with the intention of winning the mountains' jersey.

The Lidl-Trek team for the Vuelta a España also includes Amanuel Gherbreigzabhier, Daan Hoole, Andrea Bagioli, Søren Kragh Andersen, Julien Bernard, and Carlos Verona.

In a rare opportunity, Pedersen has a chance to complete a hat trick for Lidl-Trek this year, having previously won the overall at the Tour of Denmark and the points jersey at the Giro d'Italia. Meanwhile, Ciccone, who has expressed a preference for stage wins over a podium finish in Madrid, aims to win a stage and the mountains jersey at the Vuelta a España.

Notably, Tao Geoghegan Hart and Mattias Skjelmose will not be participating in the Vuelta a España for Lidl-Trek this year.

Lidl-Trek's strategic approach for the Vuelta a España 2025 promises an exciting race, with both Pedersen and Ciccone aiming for significant victories. The team's goal of winning the mountains jersey, as previously stated, adds another layer of anticipation to the competition.
