Dacia Sandero Tops European Car Sales in July 2025

The Dacia Sandero has once again claimed the top spot in European car sales, making it the fourth monthly win for the budget-friendly vehicle in 2025. In July, the Sandero outperformed its competitors, including the Peugeot 208, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen T-Roc, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Dacia Duster, to become Europe's top-selling car.

This achievement comes after the Sandero's impressive performance in 2024, where it was not only Europe's best-selling car but also the top-seller across the EU, European Free Trade Association countries, and the United Kingdom. The Renault Clio and Volkswagen Golf followed closely behind.

The Sandero's success in July was particularly noticeable in France, Italy, and Germany, where it sold the most units. However, the sales figures for the Renault Clio, Volkswagen Golf, Peugeot 208, Volkswagen T-Roc, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the Dacia Duster were not disclosed.

Despite the monthly sales win, Dacia saw a 9% decrease in sales compared to the same month in 2024, selling over 24,000 cars in July 2025. This decrease might be attributed to the overall market slowdown, as the automotive industry grapples with supply chain issues and rising costs.

The Dacia Sandero is manufactured at the Mioveni plant, which also produces the Duster, Logan, Sandero Stepway, Jogger, and Bigster models, in addition to parts for other Renault plants assembling Logan, Sandero, and Duster models. The plant employs approximately 6,900 people.

In 2024, the Tesla Model Y remained the most popular electric car model in Europe, slipping to fourth place overall. This shift in the electric vehicle market is a testament to the growing demand for affordable, practical, and efficient vehicles like the Dacia Sandero.

As the Sandero ended a three-month streak in which the Renault Clio dominated the top-selling car ranking, it's clear that the competition in the European automotive market is fierce. Regardless, the Dacia Sandero continues to prove its worth as a reliable and popular choice for European car buyers.
