Daily Agenda for 'Tour dementia' Action: Highlighting Events and Initiatives for Family Members and Affected Individuals

On September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach will host an action day dedicated to raising awareness and providing support for those affected by dementia. This event, known as "Aktionstag Demenz 2025", is a collaborative effort between local Alzheimer's societies, self-help groups focused on dementia, and various other organisations.

The day's activities will kick off at the Market Square City Center from 2:30 PM, with an exhibition titled "The Radiance of Age" showcasing portrait photos from the encounter centers of Caritas RheinBerg. Visitors can also expect information stands and interactive activities from the City Library, Aging Support Office, and Care Counseling Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis.

One of the highlights of the day is the "Tour Demenz" bike tour, organised in conjunction with World Alzheimer's Day. Radwerk (Caritas) will accompany the bike group of the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land in this event. The bike group is expected to arrive at the market square around 3:25 PM, where they will be welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives.

ADFC Rhein-Berg will also offer e-tandems for visitors to try out. For those interested in learning more about driving with dementia, a lecture titled "Driving with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties" will be held at the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach, led by Nicole Sutschet, Police Commissioner and Traffic Safety Advisor.

At Villa Zanders, there will be a guided tour "With all senses" and a dance offer "In the rhythm of memory" for people with and without dementia. Registration for both events is required by September 15, 2025.

Another lecture at the DRK Refrather Treff will be about legal representation options in dementia, led by Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach. Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen will lead a lecture titled "Dement - what now?" at the same venue.
