The world of indie horror films is about to get a new addition, as "Iron Lung," an adaptation of the popular video game "Dark Deception," is in the works. The film, which is set to be directed, written, produced by, and starring YouTuber Mark Fischbach, better known as Markiplier, is being handled by indie company So It Goes.

So It Goes also confirmed that the adaptation of "Dark Deception" is in their hands. The game, initially released in 2018 for PC and mobile platforms, has an impressive install base of 58 million players and 6.5 million units sold. The game features big-headed monsters reminiscent of those found in the successful "Five Nights at Freddy's" series.

Adrian Speckert and Cory Todd Hughes, writers and executive producers of the slasher-horror film "Wolf Creek: Legacy," will pen the script for "Dark Deception." Speckert and Hughes are excited to bring the same energy they had while working on "Wolf Creek: Legacy" to "Dark Deception."

No further details about the cast or production company for "Iron Lung" have been provided at this time. However, the success of the 2023 film adaptation of "Five Nights at Freddy's" by Blumhouse and the upcoming sequel due in December, indicate a promising future for indie horror films.

It's worth noting that upcoming releases for "Marvel," "Star Wars," "Star Trek," DC Universe, and "Doctor Who" have been announced, but no new information about these was provided.

"Dark Deception" is described as a story-driven first-person horror maze on Steam. The base game is free, while DLC chapters have to be bought. The fifth chapter of "Dark Deception" is due in 2025.

As for the release date of "Iron Lung," no immediate announcement has been made. But with the talent behind it and the popularity of its source material, it's sure to be a film to watch out for in the future of indie horror.
