Karen Alexius-Eifert, the head of the Education and Social Affairs Department in the city of Bottrop, was honoured for her 25 years of service on September 1st, 2022. Alexius-Eifert's journey in public service began in the year 2000 as a trainee urban inspector. Since then, she has held various roles, including positions at the Social Welfare Office, the Job Center, and as deputy director of the Social Welfare Office. In 2018, she was appointed as director, and her role was officially confirmed as the head of the Education and Social Affairs department in July 2022.

Mayor Tischler highlighted Alexius-Eifert's work during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic and the beginning of the Ukraine war, referring to her as a "crisis manager." Carsten Pietroscewsky, the chairman of the personnel council, echoed these sentiments, recalling the great challenges masterfully navigated by Alexius-Eifert, including the housing of refugees.

Pietroscewsky, along with his colleagues, congratulated Alexius-Eifert on her significant milestone, acknowledging the good and trusting cooperation between her and the personnel council. He expressed admiration for her leadership and resilience, particularly during the trying times faced by the city.

Alexius-Eifert, now a graduate administrator, expressed her gratitude for being able to fulfill her role for the people of the city. Her department includes the School and Daycare Services division, the Social Welfare Office, the Youth Office, the Job Center for Bottrop, and the Migration - Municipal Integration Center.

As she continues to serve the city of Bottrop, Alexius-Eifert remains dedicated to ensuring the social well-being of its citizens, a commitment that has spanned over two decades.
