Day's Action Plan for 'Tour dementia': Details on the Event for Family Members and Affected Individuals, Schedule for the Day
On September 17, 2025, the city of Bergisch Gladbach and the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land are hosting an action day focused on dementia. This event, timed to coincide with World Alzheimer's Day, promises a varied program from morning to evening, offering valuable insights and resources for all.
The action day will kick off with lectures at the DRK Refrather Treff and the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach. At 10:00 AM, Senior Physician Meike Jacobsen will address the topic "Dement - What Now?" while at 12:00 PM, Claudia Freudenberger from the Guardianship Office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach will discuss "Legal Representation Options in Dementia."
The Market Square will become a hub of activities from 2:30 PM, hosting actions and information booths. The City Library will have an information booth and an interactive activity, and the Care Consultation Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis will be present with consultation, information, and materials. ADFC Rhein-Berg will offer an E-Tandem to try out.
At 2:30 PM, a media exhibition on dementia will open at the City Library, running until September 27. In the Market Square, "The Radiance of Age" portrait photos will be displayed.
A highlight of the day will be the guided tour "With All Senses" at Villa Zanders at 4:00 PM. Registration for this event is required by September 15, 2025. Participation in this event, as well as all other events, is free of charge.
The bike group of the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land will arrive at the Market Square around 3:25 PM and will be welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor and other representatives. Radwerk (Caritas) will accompany the bike group.
In the evening, a lecture titled "Driving a Car with Dementia - Assistance for Relatives and Interested Parties" will be given by Nicole Sutschet from the Police at the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach from 5:30-7:00 PM.
The Contact Office for Care Self-Help RBK will have an information booth for caring relatives. The day will conclude with the movement program "In Rhythm of Memory" for people with and without dementia, led by dancer Katharina Simbrunner at Villa Zanders. Registration for this event is required by September 15, 2025.
