debris found beneath Kyiv's collapsed structure - visual evidence
In the tragic aftermath of the Russian attacks on Kyiv, at least five lives have been lost, with the number potentially rising.
On the night of 6-7 September, Russian drones struck high-rise buildings in both the Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts of the capital. The attack in the Sviatoshynskyi district claimed the lives of a mother and her baby, while another elderly woman died in a shelter in the Darnytskyi district.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported a total of three deaths from the Russian attack on Kyiv on 7 September. However, two more deaths have since been confirmed, bringing the total to five. One of the three people killed was a child.
Emergency workers have been working tirelessly to recover the victims from the wreckage. One such recovery occurred in the Sviatoshynskyi district, where the body of a man named Serhiy was found under the rubble of a nine-storey building.
In addition to the physical destruction, the psychological impact of these attacks cannot be underestimated. The city's residents are left to pick up the pieces and find a way to move forward in these challenging times.
Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, has expressed his condolences and called for an end to the violence. "We are doing everything we can to support the families of the victims and to help those affected by these senseless attacks," he said.
As the situation continues to unfold, the people of Kyiv remain resilient and determined to rebuild and reclaim their city. The world watches on, hoping for a peaceful resolution to this ongoing conflict.
