Debt Relief Discussion: "Montero's perspective as counselor being that it's not acceptable," according to Moreno

In a recent statement, Juanma Moreno, the President of the Junta of Andalusia, expressed his disapproval of the debt relief proposed by the Spanish government through the Ministry of Finance, led by María Jesús Montero.

During a speech in Málaga, Moreno stated that Andalusia does not require debt relief like Catalonia, and that the proposed instrument would only guarantee the survival of the government, not benefit the autonomous communities. He further added that Andalusia remains underfunded and receives 1,500 million euros less per year than what it should correspond to.

Moreno also reminded Montero of her previous stance on debt relief when she was a counselor of Finance in the socialist government of the Andalusian Junta. He challenged Montero to propose her financing model for Andalusia, which would bring approximately 4,000 million euros more to the community.

On the other hand, Moreno regretted that Montero has not been able to make a compensation fund to level the financing of one of the least funded communities in Spain, "which is Andalusia". He also expressed his disappointment that despite being more than seven years in the government as responsible and head of Finance, Montero has not moved a finger for what she defended as a counselor.

The government of the Junta is working to reduce the debt, as it has managed to do with respect to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, Moreno denounced that Andalusia competes in inequality with the rest of the autonomous communities every year due to the underfunding.

It is important to note that the debt relief proposed by the Spanish government is not accessible for all users, only for registered ones.

J. J. Maduenño, who was present in Málaga, did not make any public statements regarding the debate.

Despite not providing any new information about the position of the Andalusian government regarding the debt relief proposed by Pedro Sánchez's executive, Moreno's speech reiterates the Junta's stance on the issue and their push for an autonomous financing model for Andalusia.
