Declaration of Love in Photographic and Comic Novel Form by Stephan Heym towards Zwickau

Get ready for an artistic extravaganza as two intriguing exhibitions are set to grace the event hall of the TIETZ. The exhibitions, titled "Stephan Heym Rediscovered. Graphic Novels about Stefan Heym" and "Lovable Zwickau - A Colorful City in Black and White Photographs", will open their doors to the public starting September 4th and 18th respectively.

In the "Stephan Heym Rediscovered" exhibition, twelve educational institutions in Chemnitz and Mittelsachsen have come together to create a unique display of student works. These works are based on Stefan Heym's writings, presented in the graphic novel format, and use the graphic novel "The Seven Lives of Stefan Heym" and the film "Heymkehr" as sources. The exhibition will run until an unspecified date, offering art enthusiasts ample time to immerse themselves in this captivating collection.

The initiators of this exhibition, Gerald Richter and Marian Kretschmer, were awarded the prestigious Stefan-Heym Prize in 2021 and 2024 for their youth art project concept.

On the other hand, the "Lovable Zwickau - A Colorful City in Black and White Photographs" exhibition features the stunning analog black-and-white photographs of Katharina John. These snapshots of Zwickau, inspired by the work of Ruth Orkin, promise to transport viewers to the heart of this city.

The vernissage for Katharina John's exhibition will take place on September 18th at 6 PM in the VHS gallery on the 4th floor of the TIETZ. The laudation for this exhibition will be delivered by the cultural journalist Matthias Zwarg.

Registration for both events is required and can be done online or by phone at 0371 488 4343. Participation in both events is free, but registration is recommended to secure your spot.

The opening of the "Stephan Heym Rediscovered" exhibition will be accompanied by a speech from Ulrike Uhlig from the Stefan-Heym Society.
