Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Myanmar's Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe at Tenth Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Meeting

On August 14, 2025, the tenth Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting took place in Anning, southwest China's Yunnan Province. During this meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Myanmar's Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe.

The goal of the meeting was to hold friendly and open talks aimed at regional cooperation and addressing issues such as border conflicts, enhancing collaboration among China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. The meeting between Wang Yi and U Than Swe was photographed by Xinhua/Peng Yikai.

Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and U Than Swe, the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, attended the meeting. U Than Swe was in China for the tenth LMC Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which was held in Anning, Yunnan Province.

The meeting between Wang Yi and U Than Swe took place on August 14, 2025, during the tenth LMC Foreign Ministers' Meeting. The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and maintain peace in the region.

The LMC is a mechanism for dialogue and cooperation between the six riparian countries of the Lancang-Mekong River, which includes China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The cooperation aims to promote sustainable development, poverty reduction, and regional integration.
