Delegates from Nordhorn attended the 50th Sun Festival in Rieti
The Nordhorner Delegation recently made a memorable visit to Rieti, Italy, to participate in the 50th anniversary of the city's annual tradition - the "Festa del Sole."
Located in the heart of Italy, Rieti played host to this significant event, which is a highlight in its annual calendar. The Nordhorner Delegation, led by Mayor Thomas Berling, included Hans-Joachim Haming, Catherine Wittenburg, Reinhard Prüllage, Savino Petrucci, and Kirsten Bakker.
The 50th "Festa del Sole" was a spectacle, with competitions on the Velino River, art exhibitions, and musical performances. Reinhard Prüllage, a member of the delegation, was given the honour of exhibiting two of his works in the Rieti town hall during the visit.
Rieti has twin city partnerships with Nordhorner, Saint-Pierre-lès-Elbeuf in France, and Ito in Japan. The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to strengthen relations with their counterparts in Rieti and other twin cities. A working session was held during the visit to further develop the eight-year-old city partnership between Nordhorner and Rieti.
The visit was particularly enjoyable due to meetings with friends from Rieti and other Rieti twin cities. Mayor Berling's visit to Rieti, from July 13 to 16, 2018, was at the invitation of Antonio Cicchetti, the Mayor of Rieti.
The "Festa del Sole" is an annual tradition in Rieti, Italy, and the 50th edition was no exception. The event showcased the rich culture, history, and hospitality of Rieti, making it a memorable experience for the Nordhorner Delegation.
