On September 11th, 2023, the Dementia Conference will take place at the Bethanien Chapel, Aufderhoher Straße 169, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The event, under the patronage of the City of Solingen and the Busch Foundation, promises to be a valuable day for those interested in dementia care and research.

The conference will kick off with an opportunity for participants to prepare, with coffee, fruit, and a dementia tour starting from 8:30 AM. This will be followed by presentations and discussions from various experts in the field.

Prof. Dr. Martina Roes from the University of Witten/Herdecke will delve into Frontotemporal Dementia, while Dr. Frederik Haarig, a psychologist and psychotherapist, will speak about the diagnosis of dementia. Sina Straßer, the director of the Busch Foundation, will introduce the foundation as part of the program.

Florian Müller from the Bethanien Care Center Kronberg will present the Qualidem concept, a potentially groundbreaking approach in dementia care. Martin Hamborg, a board member of the German Expert Group on Dementia Care, will discuss self-management in care and potential impulses for the care reform.

Rüdiger Jezewski, Dementia Advisor of Diakonie Bethanien, emphasizes the importance of knowledge, networking, and a relationship-oriented approach in dealing with dementia. He will also facilitate an encounter and exchange session after 3:30 PM.

The Aicher couple will share their personal experiences living with dementia in a conversation with Stefanie Kratz and Rüdiger Jezewski. Arnd Bader from the Regional Office for Ageing, Care, and Dementia in the Bergisches Land will provide practical guidance on resilience and movement training.

The theological advisor who will set the spiritual framework with an impulse on "the merciful gaze on life" is Friederike Meißner, Theological Referentin of Diakonie Bethanien. Christof Krüger will facilitate this session.

The event is organised by Diakonie Bethanien, German Expert Group on Dementia Care e.V., and German Association of Managers in Elderly and Disabled Care e.V. Continuing education credits and a certificate will be available at the end of the conference.
