Design Exhibition from Stockholm Design Week 2025

In early February, Stockholm Design Week returned with a fresh new look, reimagined as a B2C showcase. The event, traditionally held at a fairground filled with Scandinavia's furniture manufacturers, saw galleries, shops, and F&B establishments hosting, reissuing, commissioning, and curating a diverse range of design offerings.

One of the highlights was NO-GA, under the creative direction of Hanna Nova Beatrice, which hosted several showcases, launches, and events during the design week. Front Design showcased a work-in-progress project 'Brilliantly Bad!', using AI as a design collaborator. Axel Wannberg's Lamp 53 was made into production in steel, in blue, mustard, and grey at NO-GA. Simon Skinner presented Buke lamps made from vintage glass objects, most of which had sold out by the time of the visit. Claesson Koivisto Rune presented a new collection of mouthblown glassware for Orrefors at NO-GA.

Form Us With Love celebrated their 20th anniversary, showcasing a new range of lights 'Catena' for lighting brand Blond, a new Nest Club chair for +Halle, and a new range of panels for acoustic brand Baux made from a new material called X-Felt. KORD launched a new brand with a mission to bring elegance and smartness to functional objects, starting with the redesign of the power adapter.

Elsewhere, Nick Ross debuted a new brand, Contem, with his collection 'The King's Hat' made from wind-fallen branches collected from the island of Kungshatt. David Taylor presented special effects aluminium objects at Bukowski Auction House, which were simple, genius, and characterful expressions of process and material.

Sweden's design brands opted to hold out for Copenhagen instead of spreading their budget across both events, making the '3 Days of Design' in Copenhagen one of the biggest topics of conversation. Toogood's studio was a guest of honor at the Stockholm Design Week, presenting an entirely different installation concept compared to their previous honor at Maison in Paris. Frank in the Loom at Svenskt Tenn showcased a series of rag rugs inspired by Margit Thorén's Schackruta rug, produced in a limited, numbered edition using leftover fabrics and offcuts.

The design week was a business event with a festival atmosphere, attracting lifestyle journalists. Note Design Studio launched a new paint color range for Danish color brand Bleo and is working with Neko Health, a body scanning tech start-up. NJRD by Bernadotte & Kylberg launched a new furniture range titled Vior, capturing the warmth and essence of vernacular Swedish family furniture.

The e-commerce platform Nordic Nest, which had one of the largest presences at Stockholm Design Week 2023, was launched by the company Nordic Nest itself, a Scandinavian online retailer specializing in design products. There is no information in the search results about another person or organization launching it.

In 2025, the Swedish economy is struggling, and the design week was relatively muted compared to previous years. However, the spirit of innovation and collaboration remained strong, with designers pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities in design.
