Development of a new waste processing facility in Ergoldsbach
New Joint Waste Collection Centre to Open in Landkreis Landshut
A new waste collection centre is under construction along the St 2615, near the roundabout in Ergoldsbach, set to serve the communities of Ergoldsbach and Neufahrn. The construction began mid-July 2025, and the centre is expected to be operational by the end of November or early December of this year.
The new collection centre, spanning an area of 2,400 m2, is well-equipped for future tasks and will address the increasing demands that the current waste collection centres in Ergoldsbach and Neufahrn are no longer able to handle. This will mark a first in the region, as both municipalities will share a single waste collection centre.
To improve accessibility, a spacious access road from the St 2615/B15 will be constructed, ensuring smooth connections to and within the waste collection centre. A left-turn lane from both Neufahrn and Ergoldsbach will also be created, with a half-closure and traffic light regulation planned for the construction of the left-turn lane.
During the construction phase, the St 2615 will be utilised as a two-lane road, taking construction traffic into account. The road will also be resurfaced with a new layer, which may require a full closure of about a week.
Once operational, the new waste collection centre will offer ample space and secure connections, and the opening hours will be extended after commissioning to optimise staff deployment. This will allow for the efficient handling of waste from both communities.
It's worth noting that the glass containers in both municipalities will remain at their current locations. The estimated cost of constructing the new waste collection centre is around one million euros.
The identity of the person responsible or head of the waste management department of Landkreis Landshut who initiated the planning of the joint waste collection centre has not been found in the given search results. Nonetheless, the construction of the new waste collection centre is a significant step towards improving waste management in the region.
