Dharmasthala Murders: Accuser Discloses Connections with Activists, Delhi Journey Unveiled
In a developing turn of events, the protection under the Witness Protection Act given to the masked man, who is a key witness in the Dharmasthala murders case, has been revoked. This revelation comes as a retired Supreme Court judge and several activists have demanded a Supreme Court- or High Court-monitored SIT probe into the alleged Dharmasthala murders.
The mask man, who approached activist T. Jayanth about one-and-a-half years ago with a skull allegedly recovered from one of the burial sites, has connections with activists. Jayanth, along with Girish Mattennanavar, another activist, Sujatha Bhat (another complainant), and the mask man, travelled to Delhi in a rented car.
The complainant has disclosed details of a trip to Delhi prior to making allegations. During this trip, they met a well-known religious seer. The SIT took the complainant to the office of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning.
The SIT is currently continuing to probe the case until they reach a conclusion, according to the Home Minister. They are also awaiting the DNA and soil analysis report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The team conducted 'mahazar' (on-site investigation) operations at the residence of activist T. Jayanth.
The complainant claimed that the bodies were found without clothing or undergarments and had injuries consistent with violent sexual abuse. Following the serious allegations by the mask man, the authorities had excavated 17 points in the temple town of Dharmasthala.
The unidentified complainant appeared before a court in Mangaluru district and recorded his statement regarding the Dharmasthala murder case. On Sunday, the complainant will be taken to the residence of another activist, Girish Mattennanavar, and later to Salem in Tamil Nadu.
The Home Minister G. Parameshwara has said that it is impossible to ask the SIT to submit its report on the alleged Dharmasthala murder case within a time-bound framework. Activist Asha Kowtal, together with the informant called "Mask Man" and the accused Sujatha Bhat, rented a vehicle and travelled to Delhi with the goal of participating in a protest.
Some neighbours have alleged that Jayanth was involved in drug peddling activities in Bengaluru, but he denies these allegations. The activists and the mask man have demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the Dharmasthala murders case. The SIT's findings and the court's decision will likely shape the course of this high-profile investigation.
